This 4-week post move training plan is designed to help players build a complete and effective presence in the post by focusing on four essential areas: footwork, positioning, finishing, and decision-making. Each week builds progressively, allowing players to develop confidence, consistency, and game-ready skills.
Throughout the program, players will begin by mastering footwork fundamentals, learning how to establish balance, pivot efficiently, and create scoring angles using controlled, purposeful movement. As the weeks progress, training shifts toward body positioning, teaching players how to use strength and leverage to seal defenders, hold position, and create space in the paint.
The plan also places a strong emphasis on finishing touch and versatility, helping players develop soft hands and the ability to score using multiple moves such as hook shots, drop steps, and up-and-unders with both hands. Repetition and technique are key to building confidence around the rim.
Finally, players will develop game awareness and decision-making, learning how to read defenses, recognize double teams, and make smart choices under pressure. By the end of the four weeks, players will not only have a reliable set of post moves, but also the confidence and understanding to apply them effectively in live game situations.
